That's bull and just one interpretation made by men. The same men who think drinking Camel Urine is fine and a medicine.

The Qur'anic verse only mentions covering the chest. There is no mention of head covering in it. And the verse was addressed to women who were being attacked at the time. The Medinah was under-siege. Typically and culturally women who came from noble and rich lineage wore a specific outfit as described in the Quran. So the enemies were targeting those who didn't wear that since they have no powerful backers, poor families. They would attack them while they went out to retrieve water.

The instruction was a war tactic to prevent the enemy from recognizing lower status women.

I am not posting this because I want to discuss this with you. I am posting this for Muslim women who don't know Hidjab is a cultural invention and is not requirement.
