I think it's very telling when someone says they'd like to get to me, but it's clear that they didn't even read my profile

This site is full of people, overwhelmingly male, who are here to live their sexuality vicariously. For the average male (98%) the ratio of rejection to acceptance is probably 10,000 to 1 in real life or higher, maybe slightly better in virtual life. So most males, when they see a woman's profile that asks them to refrain from giving her unsolicited sexual attention (in other words, rejects them outright) figure why not give it a try anyway... she's put up a red signal anyway, so let me just take a chance and see whether a PM can turn it that signal yellow. Nothing lost in the bargain.
I've been tempted to do this on many occasions, and were it not for my sense of self-respect, I would have done it. But self-respect does not win you women... we men don't really know for sure what does, but self-respect is surely not at the top of the list.
