What happens when someone starts a conversation by saying you're pretty/handsome

Is it true that you lose interest when out of nowhere someone says you are pretty/handsome then starts a conversation? To speak for myself, i always feel the person is not genuine and i become suspicious they are up to something... takes time to adjust and play along

I met a Frenchman a couple of months ago from Canada. He wanted to be friends. I love friends so I said sure we can be friends. I've never had a true friend keep telling me how beautiful I'm am Especially when just becoming friends.

We went on one motorcycle ride. When I didn't want to go on a second ride he took it personally and makes comments that makes me think he does not like the fact that I am honest and true about what I want and do not want in my life.

True friendship is very hard to come by with males or females.

@AlanPartridge: yes me too i have come across people i like, but theres nothing much i can do about it. I guess if we like them they should like us back in order to have a worthy connection

Definitely loses some charm when they start the conversation pointing out that they like how I look before anything else.

Yes i prefer to know how respectful and well behaved someone is before we can start pointing out whats physical pretty about them.. chances are things will last long enough, or if they will end they will end honorably
Never start a conversation with that topic. It has a very high chance of going awry.
