The next several years...friends fading away?

I realize this is a question probably for the older SWeeps here, but are you dreading the next few years? I am. I just received word of a friend and bandmate's declining health--he says he can no longer play--and my fear is that, as he battles his illness, that he is probably not long for this world. But he's been sick for a while now. Then, I begin thinking of others who aren't in the shape they once were and it becomes a huge anxious death-spiral.

After all, our timelines intrinsically overlap. I've said it to many of my friends--either I'm going to your funeral or you're going to mine.

Are any of you feeling this way?

I'm a musician in my mid 50's now. I've been playing live for 36 years and yeah in some ways I'm not as good a player as I was aged 25. However I am more tasteful a player now.
I think I will have arthritis in a few years and that will stop me playing.
Sadly a few people I have played with in bands have died.
My tutor though..he is in his mid 70's and he plays gigs several times a week!
So there is hope I guess.

@Entwistle I'm assuming you're a bass player.
Me, not particularly a singer, but I do sing better now than I did when I was 25. Drums-wise, I don't hit as hard, on guitar I'm really rusty, piano pretty much the same. We've been playing about the same time. The whole thing didn't bite me till I was a teen. But, there's no stopping it now.

@uncalled4 Primarily bass yeah,regular 6 string as an aid to songwriting.

@Entwistle Interesting. Ever see that clip of McCartney coming up with Get Back on the Hofner? Pretty cool.

@uncalled4 No I haven't. Is it from the recent film?
McCartney is the best ever bassist IMHO. So melodic.

@Entwistle It is. Paul was the only one who showed up one day(at the film studio) and he gets so frustrated that he picks up the Hof and plays dyads and effectively writes the song on the spot.
