The next several years...friends fading away?

I realize this is a question probably for the older SWeeps here, but are you dreading the next few years? I am. I just received word of a friend and bandmate's declining health--he says he can no longer play--and my fear is that, as he battles his illness, that he is probably not long for this world. But he's been sick for a while now. Then, I begin thinking of others who aren't in the shape they once were and it becomes a huge anxious death-spiral.

After all, our timelines intrinsically overlap. I've said it to many of my friends--either I'm going to your funeral or you're going to mine.

Are any of you feeling this way?

I think it's very easy to get a sense of your own mortality once you hit your 50's.
Especially in recent times.

Doesn't help that every other ad on tv is for funeral plans; private healthcare or leaving a gift in your will to just about every charity out there !

But it's a sad fact that once you hit this age bracket it seems you're more susceptible to cancers and other human gremlins and with a massive shortage in carers and care home provision, plus this never ending general depression the whole world is hurtling through, you realise it could be any one us with little or no notice indeed
