How do you determine between a friend or acquaintance nominally, yourself?

Acquaintance: someone you know of, or know on a surface level.

Friend: someone you've gotten to know on a deeper level, with whom you socialize, have been to their home, ask how their mom/dad/kid/spouse are not to make conversation but because you genuinely care.

If I wouldn't help them bury a body in the middle of the night, they're an acquaintance.

I don't, really. I act pretty similarly with everyone.
