Anyone else have a friend who is really, really ill?

I have a friend with stage 3b inoperable lung cancer. He just finished his first round of chemo and radiation, did that for 6 weeks, and then went home where he became ill with pneumonia. He was hospitalized again, and then released to a rehab facility because his muscles are beginning to atrophy, and 4 days ago came down with a galloping case of C. Difficile. The rehab where he is staying is filthy with it, and the unsanitary practices are to blame.

I don't know how a weakened man, with lung cancer, is supposed to survive pneumonia and now this.

He sounds okay, on the phone, but I am afraid this will be the end of him.

Can you call the health department they might can check out the place and make them clean up there act, file a complaint with what ever place that will listen, I have to friends that have cancer one just found out and needed to put on weight because starting chemo the other went through it, and a operation but it came back and he is to weak for another round but hasn't given up and has a feeding tube trying to get his strength back for another round, they are stronger than I could ever be

@Justiceforall It's really too late for that. He is stuck there for 14 days and can't be moved due to contagion. He is yelling at everyone there, and browbeating the nurses, and he is VERY angry.

For that reason, I prefer to wait until he is out of their hands before I contact the better business bureau, and we will also file a complaint with the board of health. He has already had a half eaten prune stuck in the bottom of his coffee cup, and they are just dumping fecal waste that is contaminated into a normal wastebasket.

He mentioned to me today that when he asked them to clean his room with bleach, and that when he mentioned to the nurse practitioner that there is no scent of bleach anywhere in the LTCF, she said, "Well, have they come to clean your room yet?" He said no, so she said, "Well, that is why."

Unfortunately they have not cleaned the room since he first became ill, on Monday, December 30th. And he is probably sick because he said they never cleaned his last room, either, and that his room mate left poop all over the toilet seat, and no one would come when he rang the buzzer...so if he didn't want to sit on his room mates poop, he had to clean the seat himself, with nothing to clean with except paper towels and water.

@4meAndyou sadly to say the hospital is like that where I live, it's like pulling teeth to get them to do anything, I can see why he is upset and giving them the down the road, there probably lucky that's all he's doing. Hopefully he will be out of there soon and something can be done to fix things.
