Anyone else have a friend who is really, really ill?

I have a friend with stage 3b inoperable lung cancer. He just finished his first round of chemo and radiation, did that for 6 weeks, and then went home where he became ill with pneumonia. He was hospitalized again, and then released to a rehab facility because his muscles are beginning to atrophy, and 4 days ago came down with a galloping case of C. Difficile. The rehab where he is staying is filthy with it, and the unsanitary practices are to blame.

I don't know how a weakened man, with lung cancer, is supposed to survive pneumonia and now this.

He sounds okay, on the phone, but I am afraid this will be the end of him.

I am so sorry. That doesn't sound good at all.

@SweetMae My thoughts and prayers will be with you both.

@SweetMae I just don't see how he can survive. It sounds as though there is no doctor there at all. He has to remain there for the next two weeks and they are so unsanitary I am praying he doesn't need fluid IV.

@4meAndyou That sounds like a very bad situation to me. Too bad he can't be moved to a better facility.

@SweetMae C. Difficile is extremely contagious, so he has to remain in that pest hole until the antibiotic runs it's course.

@4meAndyou I will be praying the antibiotics are effective.

@Wiseacre I don't know what that is, but it sounds...fecal.
