Is it rude for an online friend to message your friends?

How would you feel if your online friend went through your friends on social media, and started to message your best friend, opening the conversation by saying you have had a really tough time recently?

I feel like it goes against discretion and it's super rude.

Idk, it's a bit odd. Doesn't matter if they're online or offline. If I tell someone I'm having a hard time in private, it isn't right to tell other people not knowing if I've shared that with them.
