Do you consider online friends , real friends, or they are just virtual beings to you?

I have never really had close friends on or offline except for one and that is my wife (she is my best friend). I've had many aquaintances and casual friends though, so yes to me my online friends are real friends even though I'll probably never meet them or spend any time with them in person.
