How do you get to know people on SW?

One of the things I used to love about EP (and what brought me back here) is that there are some really intelligent, witty people that come here. Of course there are a lot of trolls mixed in too. What kinds of questions do you ask people when you meet them to help decide whether they are a quality connection and worth getting to know better?

I agree, although I have met online a friend who told me he visited recently someone who he met on Similar Worlds. This particular person is employed in the arts/performing, and I'd like to see a performance of his. (He knows that, too.)
