How do you get to know people on SW?

One of the things I used to love about EP (and what brought me back here) is that there are some really intelligent, witty people that come here. Of course there are a lot of trolls mixed in too. What kinds of questions do you ask people when you meet them to help decide whether they are a quality connection and worth getting to know better?

Contact someone who seems to share your interests or hobbies or someone who asks the SW community advice on a problem that you have a solution for. Skip anyone who appears to be a "troll" or asks you intimate, or embarrassing, questions or invites you to get spanked by him or her. (If this last contacts you, BLOCK them.)
