How long does it take to recover from chronic abuse, after its over

Been over 3 years and I'm still hurting from ptsd

Do you ever recover abuse, they say time is a healer but the pain and anguish will always be with you - take care and look after yourself
Wow... All The other comments are right on the dot. I suffer PTSD too. I'm with you too. It takes a long time if ever. Just try your best at being positive thru it all. It does depend on the person and the situation. I have many ways to take my mind off of it such as playing a musical instrument, read a book, socialize with good people or restore a car or antique tractor. Try not to dwell on it. Sitting around and dwelling makes it worse and takes longer to get thru it. Like a bad habit... The more you do it, the harder it is to break the habit. Know that people love you and do care even if sometimes it don't seem like it.

There's no one answer to that question. Varies with the individual.

It's different for everyone. Some learn to manage it, some don't

It's been 5 years for me and it's gotten a lot easier. I'm less jumpy, tense, paranoid, emotional, but there are some hard times where I still get too deep in my head/ memories and I feel like total shit. So it's definitely a long road....but I have no medication, therapy, or support system so I'm probably not making it any easier for myself.
I'm sorry.
Don't give up.

I am not sure it ever does. I still woke up screaming in the night from some of the abuse I suffered.

@SweetMae Sometimes it runs in your head like a movie

Unless you work on the damage, then there will never be enough time.

I have no idea but I think never. You just learn to adapt

Some people have PTSD for life. I hope you find a good theapist or someone who can help you through it.
