How to make friends as an adult?

Its embarassing, but i don't have friends. I'm 31 and soon will be 32, i'm in a new city and I completely skipped my university classes (where most adult friendships are built).
Being an introvert is also a disadvantage. I also cannot initiate conversations, not because i'm particularly shy, but i feel i'm barging into someone's space and don't know if they want a conversation or not.
Im not interested in romantic connections and most of the internet stuffs are for dating and such.

Here's an easy, direct method:

1. Go on your local area's subreddit.
2. Make or find a post saying you want to make friends IRL.
3. Respond to people in DMs and set up a meeting in a public setting.
4. Hang out with them IRL. If you like them, give them your contact info.
5. Continue setting up hangouts with those friends indefinitely.
6. Repeat on an as-needed basis until you have a big, healthy friend circle.

Try to get connect to old ones. New ones can only be good acquaintance ( hardly few very good ones truly become friends)

You don't need to "start a conversation." You just need a contextual opener. Like "What do you do around here?" Most people are open to a quick chat. Some are more talkers than others. Take me, I'm the opposite - I love talking to people and socializing.

I mean you're not going to make a best friend instantly. That just happens with time.
