Microplastics and nanoplastics come from plastic pipes. This plastic causes inflammation that cause biological issues. Nanoplastics which can cross the blood-brain barrier. These particles can trigger and cause all sorts of issues over time.
I'll avoid plastics like Pex, pvc, etc.

@Neoerectus nearly everything you purchase contains some form of plastic including the containers you eat\drink from

@lpthehermit NOT if you are observant and avoid it. Esp fluid/food containers.
Fortunately, my house has copper (built in 80's). I replace with copper or brass in the drinking related pipes when needed - eg a long deep freeze busted pipe on an outside wall (ran pipe deeper inside and installed a cutoff inside to keep water from that faucet in winter).

Reverse osmosis for cooking and drinking can remove much of it.
