Should I tolerate someone just because they are "real" ?

Would you put up with someone even when you're not genuinely interested just because they are a great person ? I find this guy death boring, but he tells me I should allow him in my personal space because he is the kind of person who will be there when I need someone. I've always wanted real friends. What do I do ?

As a friend, definitely keep him. As a husband...no.
If you are good friends, you could politely pass a hint of how boring he is and maybe he'll be a little more interesting and more on the level of your intetests
