Should I tolerate someone just because they are "real" ?

Would you put up with someone even when you're not genuinely interested just because they are a great person ? I find this guy death boring, but he tells me I should allow him in my personal space because he is the kind of person who will be there when I need someone. I've always wanted real friends. What do I do ?

The line "you should allow me in your space because I’ll be there when you need someone" is manipulative, even if it's well-intentioned. Friendship isn’t a transaction. No one is entitled to your personal space just because they offer loyalty.
