Once an ex-girlfriend, who I was still friendly with, sent me a letter that was all torn up. I spent a while putting it together to discover it was "Hi, how are you? I'm fine" etc. lol. I told her that receiving a torn up letter initially made me think something really bad was going on. lol. She said that her letter was so boring that she ripped it up. But she already addressed and stamped the envelope so she just sent it.
