How would you manage growing away from life-long friends due to their choice to remain stagnant?

Move on is an easy answer, but really ponder those ramifications.

The growing away part I've come to accept. It's replacing my social network with healthy relationships that set good boundaries that I've fallen short of. How do you meet all new friends in middle age?

@Starcrossed Seems pretty impossible for me. I've tried everything that is suggested: church groups, volunteering, classes, meetups etc. Nothing works because people have their own lives and don't make time for others.
