Ever made a plan to have house mates for 3 month's that turned into a year?

A year ago I had a friend who wanted to have my spare room for about 3 month's it. Has been a year now and he still wants to have the spare room. I am not complaining about him as he does pay rent and is fun to hang out with.

I had a housemate situation that turned from two weeks into two years. You think yours is bad, this guy was slowly descending into meth hell while living with us. The best we could expect from him from one day to the next was that he would only be verbally abusive.
