I love Herman Hesse

“We are sun and moon, dear friend; we are sea and land. It is not our purpose to become each other; it is to recognize each other, to learn to see the other and honor him for what he is: each the other's opposite and complement.”

Hermann Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

Thank you for making me thinking of this author. Most will know him for 'Steppenwolf', or Siddhartha, but I'd say his best work was Demian. I'd have to read the books again to really say, but Demian felt the most honest.
@thewindupbirdchronicles

You’re welcome …..

Demian was the first book of him that read and it stayed my favorite one after reading the rest of his books… Nevertheless, he will always be one of the best in my mind and heart…
@Soossie I read Siddhartha first, someone thought I would identify with it. I'm no literary critic, and a re-read of the books might change my mind, but Demian felt more honest in he was conveying words without pretext of meanings that can happen to even great authors.

Maybe that’s why most people like his Demian better….

To me his Steppenwolf was his most honest tho as it was written based on his deep feelings of a man in his middle age and the related crisis….it was a bit dark but I liked it too..
@Soossie maybe I should reread, and my observation could be born from being male, and often I look towards what is not celebrated.
@thewindupbirdchronicles

I hope that you’ll enjoy…
@Soossie once I reread, its placed on a list to get to.. time is limited and an author I should get back to.
