I see no reason why a guy and girl can’t be just friends. Even if they find each other attractive.

You need to be thick skinned - After divorcing in my early 20's and I was the same as you back then. When I wA married all of my friends were female.

However, this quickly changed. When I realised as a newly single woman how catty those tethered female friends became.

Of course being a single woman you naturally get approached by lots of Men . I very quickly found many of those guys made excellent friends. Of course you have filter them from the ones who are directly looking for fun or a relationship from them who are just cool to hang out with do and know .

You have to be thick skinned because some ppl are Jealous that you have male friends who you not obligated - others may refuse to believe you are not sleeping with them and may wish to take the moral high ground.

The guys themselves seem to instinctively know its just all round friendship . & value you as much as you do them.

Plus if / or when you do eventually decide that one of them is much more special than the others. You'll pair off ..and that will be that 😉
I do think it’s a bit weird to say women are more drama. Being dramatic is not related to sex. You just have to be better at choosing who you associate with. I have many close female friends, who I have deep connections with.

Regardless, it’s assumed that men want nothing but sex from women. Which is not true. Men aren’t attracted to every woman they meet, so it’s easy to be their friend.
Some girls have a great way of playing it straight (i.e., honest, no games), having clear boundaries and treating guys like they are her brothers.
Guys pick up on that, like her as a person (not sex object) and treat her with respect. It's quite rare, but I've seen it at least three or four times in my life (of 66 years).

People tend to believe far too much in stereotypes and forget that there are always exceptions.
Be yourself and don't concern yourself with what others think.

I have good friends that once were guys and girls and more than 50 years since are still my dear ones.
Amongst them the women that by then were young ones and had been my friends all this time.

I don´t see why to object having friends regardles their gender.

You can. Just make you way in the world with the friend you enjoy. Your detractors aren't paying your bills are they? Thought so.
Hang out with who you want. Negative people drop away after a season. Continue on with your life AND your friends.

Find some gay guys then, straight guys are not going to hangout with a girl unless sex is a possibility...unless she's not at all attractive and even then most guys will still want to hit it
If you were to move to a new house/ apartment/ domicile would they help you with moving furniture and boxes? If they were to move would you help them?
It's because you are getting abundance of attention and care from those guys. Sure you will also play around with them.

I do feel the same way. I seem to get along with most girls so much easier that guys. I enjoy talking and they all seem to like to do the same!

I never got why there cannot be platonic friends. I have plenty of women friends(one of them has a birthday today and I messaged her), and they offer a different take on things that I won't get with guy friends. I guess I just seek out that female energy and always did.
I'm not going to be one of those people who say that guys can't be friends with girls, because I am friends with a few. But you do have to make sure of who you're hanging with.
