Slowly losing my circle of friends

I have a small group of friends that i've known since elementary. We've been pretty close knit for years but ever since the pandemic and going to different schools, it just doesn't feel the same anymore. We hardly meet up because of general college kid busy things, and we hardly talk sometimes. It's kind of hard finding common things to talk about. And when we plan for a hangout even just online, most of the time everyone forgets about it or just dips out. It's just so frustrating when I am feeling happy seeing them online on discord and I try to engage by posting some funny meme but then they don't message back. Sometimes I feel that we are really drifting apart but I don't know what's the right thing to do about it.

Your lives are going in different directions. I'm sorry you're experiencing this, but you are not alone. I have a grandchild going through the same things. I think it's mostly how life goes unless you manage to be in the same clubs, classes, etc...
As for my grandson, he sees his friends rarely, but has made new friends he sees more often.
If you wish, keep trying with your friends, but maybe put some effort into potential new friends around you.
