My former classmate doesn’t support me in wanting to be an early childcare teacher? I thought she would. Why?
So I saw her this passed weekend and she asked me what I was going to school for. I told her a teacher. She gave me a crazy look and said, “Why do you wanna be a teacher?! Are you serious? Wanting to deal with bratty kids? Frankly you’re just wasting your time on something that is irrelevant. Teachers don’t get paid much and you won’t survive so what the hell is the point? You’re insane.”
Wow…that wasn’t what I expected. I said, “Are you serious? I thought you would support me on this since you’re my friend.”
She cut me off and said, “No I don’t support you at ALL. Just because I’m your friend doesn’t mean I’m going to agree with everything you do. I’m being honest.”
I said, “You don’t have it be rude. Being a teacher is a rewarding-“
She cut me off again and said, “You know what? If I hear that ONE MORE TIME! Get a real job. Something that will PAY you better. Like a doctor or whatever.”
I thought friends are supposed to support everything you do, well most things.
