When male friends casually mention masturbating or boners

If you wouldn't say that to other male friends, why do you think it's appropriate to say to me?

Basically it's fishing for sexual conversation. There is no other good reason, except for maybe a total lack of etiquette but then that would be aparent in other things that they say or do.
