If you have any interests, you can probably find a group in the city that welcomes people. It could be a church, a charity, an exercise group, tree huggers, or any volunteer group.

@exexec Thanks! Appreciate this! I've tried church and volunteering but I haven't really made any close connections or friends. Seems like everyone wanted to go their separate ways immediately after. In terms of church it seems quite forced on my end. Although....I'm new to those circles, so I'll keep trying.

@InferenceEngine Finding a small group is the key. Some churches have them, some don't.

@exexec Any tips on getting into the small group. I realize that sounds a bit weird and invasive lol
I just see these groups of close friends and I can't help but feel envious/want to be a part of it.

Go places that appeal to you. If your a nerd, find your local comic shop or game store. If you like music then see if theres a local bar with a band playing. Or if you like watching sports, go see a game. You're more likely to find people you click with that way

Appreciate the help and reply! I've tried that I just don't really know how to start a conversation with people or follow up. Especially if they're already in their friend groups. Is it okay to just walk up and say hello or something?
I'm realizing that's the hard part that a lot of people don't really know how to answer. Do you have any experience in pursuing friends or is that just too inorganic and do these things just happen randomly?

Is there a social site you can join in your area? I've a lot of luck meeting new people via the computer. Good luck.

@Grateful4you Yeah! I think I'm just going to keep on trying. I realize that it's getting into a group of friends that's the hard part for me. Like when I'm there it's fun and a regular thing but everyone seems to come with already established friends, family or significant others. After engaging in whatever task, volunteering, board games(Which is fun! :D ) everyone just goes their separate ways.

Meetup.
It's a website for clubs and interests. It helped me in the same situation.
