I hate that I’m an empath, it’s hard to come across good friends

I have a neighbor I just met, she gave away some stuff to me from her son . She’s real nice I shared an opportunity so she can go do a class virtually , I wrote her a long message to motivate her because she felt she cant do it. She respond I heard you. such a short message, I’m pretty sure she ain’t read it behind her one sentence . I felt awkward because I always want to be positive but I’m stepping back and worrying about myself, no new friends! Let them rot

She may have felt ashamed on some level so she couldn't comment much on it in depth.
But she let you know she heard you.

i feel your pain. it hurts to put so much effort into written correspondence and it goes ignored or a 2-3 word response

She might have misinterpreted your efforts to be positive as pushy and undermining how she feels. Sometimes the best way to be someone’s friend is to be supportive, but respect their feeling/decision without nudging or hoping our attitude will override theirs (which includes positive attitudes).
It’s also possible that you’re really long message felt overwhelming to them.

It never pays to try to change someone you've just met. You can't overcome the roadblocks put into place by a total stranger after one meeting.

I don't think it's just because someone's an empath.
I think whatever personality we have, it's just hard to come across good friends. Period.

And I know it sucks. But sometimes, God surprises you with one anyway. I hope you find him/her soon. We all could use a really good friend in our lives. :)
