to the people that just add others without ever interacting with them on here

I think some people may just like the vibe of others and like to have them in their group and like being able to read their posts without having the need to interact directly.

If someone follows me I just think they liked some of my posts and would like to see more of them coz they're interesting or funny.

I wonder if it does stuff to the reputation algorithm thats now in play. before it made it easier to keep track of/notice someone's post, but thats a nonstarter, now. perhaps they are inviting you to come dig around in their profile for the things they only share to certain people, sine thats now an option.

I see that, too. I generally don’t add people unless we’ve had several interactions on posts or in the Q&A. Just like with sites like Twitter or Facebook, for some it’s about the numbers of “friends” or followers.
