I had a pen-pal in 3rd grade.

He was from Texas. His teacher and my teacher were friends. I'm from Tennessee, and it was really cool. The entire school year each classmate received a letter from the same pen-pal. It was so awesome/wholesome. I don't remember his name. But, I felt like he was my best friend. I hope he's doing great in life. I never saw his face, but he was the sweetest boy I ever knew.

my wife's family had a penpal and a foreign student living with them while in high school. when we were in the Navy, we were assigned to her country and lived in her mother's house!
