I Drink Wine

I have traveled through a good portion of the United States, Canada and Mexico. Heck I even flew to Australia. Everywhere I've been I love to stop and sample the local wines. I feel you can meet quite a few "winos" (LOL) that way. There have been many wines that I have grown to adore...many of which come from the Oregon and Washington State areas. There is something about the volcanic soil that rounds out the grapes so beautifully. Often when I'm shopping for wines, I run into novelists that ask for my opinion, and depending on their tastes I tend to steer them towards those wines.

The days of west coast wine, I lived in the San Joaquin valley during the 80s and learned to love the Zinfandel while I was there! You have the most awesome sister so I had to stop by when she mentioned you. Consider me a resource if you need anything at SW! 🥀🍷

@Pfuzylogic Thank you, I appreciate that.

Your Sister has always been a very loyal friend. I could do no less. 💚
A woman after my own heart - and so suited to my profile name. 😉

There is a small difference though... I haven't a clue when it comes to the finer points of what I'm drinking. I either like it - or I don't like it so much.

This evening, it was good (red from Chile) - apart from the name. It was called "Pour ma Guele". What's that meant to be about..?

@AfternoonWine I find some wines from Chile pleasant. But to be truthful, I really haven't experienced too many of them from South America.
We get quite a few Chilean ones here, and I often like them.

Here is the UK. Apparently we're great wine importers and get wines from all over the place. Maybe that's because our own aren't so common - the climate is a bit cool, I think.

We do get a few North American ones, but, as usual, I'm no expert.

The "local" part of "local wine" can be fascinating sometimes. I remember sampling wines at a winery in New Mexico. The Burgundy and the Chablis were pretty mediocre. But then I tasted the Chamborino, named after the grape that was indigenous to the area. It was spectacular (and of course, not available anywhere else in the world!)
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@nerdynerd I tend to agree with you. There are some grape varieties that are indigenous to the area and therefore produce the best regional wines. I only wish that there were more ways to obtain those wines...other than having to go there.

Yes, the wines of the Northwest are truly worthwhile. Oregon is famous for pinot noir and pinot gris. Washington's vinological variety is staggering. Red blends are worth exploring.

I can often be found tasting at renowned wine bars and sometimes, after tippling, under them. I am that much of a wino.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
*Giggles * Really? You sound like my kind of guy
laotzu92 · 70-79, M
@MaladyRed every enthusiasm should be taken to excess from time to time, Ma'am.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
Is it true you can find an inexpensive wine that taste just as good as the high priced French ones
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@walabby Some day I hope to go there to enjoy them myself.
walabby · 70-79, M
@MaladyRed Yes you should! DO IT!

You probably should wait until the French protesters have worn themselves out, though... :/
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@walabby True, thank you for the advice.
walabby · 70-79, M
Go to France. French wines...and Italian, are awesome!
walabby · 70-79, M
@MaladyRed The French in particular tend to keep their bast wines at home, and export the second quality ones. You can buy excellent wines in the supermarket for 6 or US$7.00. Prices in Italy are even cheaper...
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@walabby You are right. Most countries do tend to keep their best wines to themselves. I know that is especially true with the Germans.
walabby · 70-79, M
@MaladyRed Australia doesn't keep the best of anything. All of out really good stuff is exported and we eat what's left... :/
Barebum61 · 61-69, M
I enjoy a beer any day over a wine
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@Barebum61 That is your preference.
Barebum61 · 61-69, M
I do know a lot of people who drink it ,I just can't aquire the taste
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@Barebum61 To each there own...it doesn't matter. You like what you like and that's fine.
Makinmd · M
Have you tried NY State wines (particularly the Finger Lakes Region)?
Makinmd · M
@MaladyRed You will have a place to stay if you would like, Ma'am.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@Makinmd I do prefer to be referred to a Malady, if you don't mind and I would have to think about your invitation.
Makinmd · M
@MaladyRed Yes, Malady.
Anon066 · 31-35, M
Washington reds are awesome.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@Anon066 I concure.
@MaladyRed You may also concord.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
