I Am a Vegetarian

Would you accept it if your partner ate meat? I was pretty tolerant in all of my relationships, but my next boyfriend should at least not eat meat when he's next to me, he shouldn't keep meat in my fridge and he shouldn't have eaten meat before kissing me. As I grow older, eating meat is becoming more odd to me. I mean, I find the consumption of meat pretty... weird to be honest.

I don't think you'll have this guy as a BF for much longer if you continue with this thread of thought. After all, eating and the sensory involvement along with the thought associations are pretty basic to us as people. Some vegetarians also practice meditation with a humanistic zen theme that leads them to acquire a neutral versus reactive response to all forms of life and all things experienced by the senses. This is the precursor to compassion for all beings.

If you aren't riding this particular horse then it's probably kinder to let your BF go instead of being filled constantly with judgement.

Who knows, you might end up at an ashram someday and hook up with a cute guy who loves his veggies!

Weeell, since I'm single at the moment, I don't have to let anyone go. Judgement..? Not really. Not eating meat doesn't make you a better person. And as long as I'm not enlighted there's much more I can improve :D

I agree that not eating meat makes you a better person. I'm referring to that in any relationship whether with a friend or lover if one person starts 'judging' the other consistently then there's a vibe there. And that vibe will eventually lead to a negative tension. It doesn't have to be about meat. It can be about anything you find disagreeable such as a personal habit, a political belief, and stupid trivial stuff like the way a girl might mindlessly chew on the ends of her hair when she gets anxious. Believe me, when the heat of romance or fondness cools down you begin to notice all kinds of details that you find disgusting.

Good luck to you finding a person as a lover or friend who is perfect!
