There are times when people don’t WANT help, unless it is a lifetime stipend to fund them.
My suggestion would to tell her to get tested for ADHD and follow doctors’ instruction. There’s a good probability that will end the friendship and you won’t have to listen to her anymore.
Friends don’t let people they love drive drunk. They don’t enthuse about a new partner they know is toxic
As a friend, about all you can do is guard yourself. People like this often show up at your door asking if they can just sleep on your couch for a few days. Before you can even anticipate it, they start trying to create and maintain the rules your house runs on. “I live here too!”
When you tell them “a few days” was not a lifetime commitment, they’ll take you to court.
This is a no-win for you.

@TheLadyPotato Did she ever do it?
TheLadyPotato · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 No.. like everything else she ignores.. she even has relatives diagnosed with ADHD and autism.. I am 💯 sure she has it but even that I can’t get her to take seriously because i think it is a root cause of many of her isues..

@TheLadyPotato I can’t tell you what to do. I would say (and have in the past said) , “You don’t want help. You want sympathy and my supply has run out. You carry chaos like an umbrella when it’s not raining. Either DO something effective to change the chaos or forget my number. You disturb my peace because I care about you. That does not mean I’m the bridge over your troubled waters. You have roughly half a lifetime left. My recommendation is, don’t throw it away too.”

Studying is a perfect example of delayed gratification -- working for a future result. The longer the delay in gratification, the higher level of maturity is required. Your friend is trying to exercise and strengthen her "maturity muscles." You should support her in this.
TheLadyPotato · 31-35, F
@ElwoodBlues I agree and I tried. She says I only feel like studying when I am with you, but when I get home I lose it. She needs to get real and also help herself.

well there are some of us who make it through life, but I have to say, no path is easy, either this or that, you will have to face things, is just things to be faced can appear in different ways or be of different nature.
But I too live a life according to my well tuned pleasure receptors and I kind of like it my way you know..
I recognize though how hard it is to relate with the other world who follows the structured paths and respects its gifts. I do appreciate all people, but it really is hard to relate.
Why is she your friend?

@Boeing Because I don’t befriend people based on their jobs.

Some people search for their place longer than others. Chill out potato!
TheLadyPotato · 31-35, F
@Ontheroad I am.. really. It is just that this behaviour is probably a pet peeve for me. When people complain and do nothing, or when people create a problem every time you give them a solution. It gets really annoying.
Ontheroad · M
@TheLadyPotato I get it - it would annoy me too, but a truly intelligent potato knows better than to let another's irrational behavior affect them - CHILL!😁
TheLadyPotato · 31-35, F
@Ontheroad The problem is that i am already too superior and all.. dealing with humans generally speaking is tiring, let alone this behavior 🥔🥴
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
Smack her and tell her to suck it up. Think I like studying? No but I do it anyways.
ineedadrink · 56-60, M
Her lack of discipline is going to stifle her advancement, as you say, but you can't make her get a clue. The only thing you can do is give her advice, if asked. But be prepared for her to not follow it. Plug in your ear buds when she starts whining about how difficult she has made things for herself. Also realize that few people have your discipline & love of studying. But don't let that last part go to your head or else you may start calling yourself a superior potato or something weird like that. 😁
TheLadyPotato · 31-35, F
@ineedadrink BUT I AM A HIGHLY SUPERIOD POTATO WHO IS SOON TO BECOME A POTATO GOD 🥔🥴
ineedadrink · 56-60, M
@TheLadyPotato Ahh, it's too late. The weirdness has taken root and is sprouting. 🤣
