Potato Friday life story
Yesterday I met such a drama queen person in the elevator before heading to work whom my conversation with ended with me saying: I don’t have time for this, BYE while she was still complaining. Which was true, as I was trying to catch my train to work. She clearly had a lot of time on her hands to be extremely dramatic with strangers she is seeing for the first time about weird stuff like a them being startled by her jumpy dogs. Then I went on, cursing while wishing I actually had more time because I was NOT done 🥔🤷🏽♀
Today, in the morning.. It is a Friday, so I woke up in a good mood… decided I will go to office because I wanted to study after work.. if I am home, I know I will have drinks on a Friday night and won’t study..
Got dressed, and had enough time to pack breakfast and also had a ready meal for lunch. Only I couldn’t find my access card! Looked and looked where I usually put and where I don’t! Could not find it.. I gave up because I was running out of time. I had exactly 20 mins left for my train, and this is how much time it usually takes me to walk up to the station comfortably. I took the elevator but somehow I thought I left my hair curler on and plugged in (it was not) but I thought, I needed to go back as this is no joke and decided to take an uber to the station.
While at it, since now I had more time, I started looking again for my access card everywhere.. This time I felt something was wrong and I was not at ease not knowing where the card was. This happened a few times before but usually I would just go to the office and get a temporary card from the admin staff because I would know the card is somewhere home, but I just can’t find it. This time I could not remember at all that I took it off yesterday (although of course i do it naturally) and really wanted to know if I lost it as I would need to report it immediately to disable the access.
Then I heard knocking on the door which I actually left ajar while looking, and I saw a very sweet old lady (all my neighbors are old except for a few) holding my card in her hand while sort of panting and saying she was trying to reach me before I went to work to give me the card.
Apparently the card was on the lobby’s bench ( someone found it). I did get two calls on the intercome late at night around 12 am and i usually don’t talk, I just open the building’s door because I know it must be a delivery! I was so surprised last night as to who is delivering something this late! And why calling twice when I already let them in! (What crossed my mind, it is a serial killer wanting to get in!) Then I found nothing in the morning at my doorstep! But, I got two other calls in the morning and I did the same thing, I just opened the door, while again very surprised about getting two calls again and nothing 🤷🏽♀
Then the lady told me her sister in law tried to call since my name is on the card and in the intercome!
It was such a good and relief moment that now I don’t have to report anything, and I can just get into the building easily without having to call someone to let me in and all that headache which almost ruined my Friday morning which was really quiet and peaceful with productive plans!
And the luck! If I didn’t go back home thinking I left something on, she would have missed me, and imagine how annoyed I would have been to find out the card was found after reporting! And to top it off, i was still able to catch my train last minute, doesn’t it feel good when that happens?
But then it hit.. oh such a difference between the attitude of this kind person who seemed so happy she could help and was really trying to reach me quickly before I left and between the weirdo I met yesterday and wanted to punch if it weren’t that I was in a rush trying to catch my train (she was saved)..
Now potato is in a good mood to start her working day as I reached office, and had coffee.. then will do some studying downtown in a nice cafe that is dear to me, because it is the cafe close to my first condo where I lived and I used to sit there a lot especially that they have Turkish coffee.. It is where I tried sangria for the first time in my life! I remember ordering Turkish coffee first, then sangria, the lady thought I was crazy!
