I can’t believe.. I still have that dream

When my mother passed away, I was having a dream, almost on a daily basis that she was alive, and I would either be very surprised in the dream that either she turned out to be alive or, and this is the more common scenario, be so surprised as to how she is surviving that long while she has this deadly disease and is acting normal. This was the most recurring dream, and on rare occasions, I would dream of her alive as normal.

After I moved to Canada, it became a different version. The same story, but either she appears in my life in Canada, and her existence sort of disrupts my new completely different life as in it leaves me with a lot of confusion in the dream, as to how I have certain things around while she is around and I am usually just confused and don’t understand how is this happening.. The other scenario which I think is more common, is that I happen to go back home, but then I am surprised she is still surviving or alive and then I also become confused and sort of locked up there and in between coming back to Canada and how come my mother was okay that I was in Canada to begin with when I visited back and found her alive..

I mean the dreams are no mystery, they speak about years I was caught up in a dilemma and i could not get out of it. But I am just surprised that I still have this dream every now and then until now..

I have similar dreams. In mine it’s the usual fighting dreams but then I recall their dead and start yelling at them about it.

Losing your mother has left a permanent mark on your psyche. It changed you forever. You'll probably have these dreams the rest of your life, and they might change in nuanced ways over time. I'm sorry for your loss 🤍
