Back to school...

I am not too old to say AI won't impact my career, and not too young, to have AI already embedded in my career journey... It has its prose and cons..

On the one hand, I envy younger people who can make career and education decisions that would give them advantage and set them up for success and really just make them on demand in this AI driven world.. (ironically, I don't see them making such decisions lol).

On the other, I value the expertise I developed in my profession, critical thinking skills and skepticism that came from starting from scratch and having to do everything myself (ironically, not everyone in my generation have developed such critical thinking skills though lol I guess it still boils down to the person, but AI makes it that much more difficult).

All in all, not a bad place to be.. I feel my experience and skills are valuable and I am glad that I have gone through my studies and early/mid career years without the help of AI, because that meant I had to spend hours learning and questioning... On the other hand, being "older" makes it more difficult for me to learn and accept AI..

But here we are.. being in that middle spot, means that if I push harder and really get up to speed, I could be really invaluable.. especially that I see it finally clearly impacting my profession, both ways, using it to perform the job, but also auditing those who use it.

So.. Potato is back to studies.. Having gone through notoriously difficult professional exams before though, sort of gives me a lot of comfort and too much confidence that I hope doesn't come back and bite me in the potato as*.. but all in all.. I am starting to get deep in AI studies and connecting it to my profession.. I will never become a programmer or a software engineer because I am just not that young and we can't all be as such, and it doesn't make any sense to give up all my experience, but definitely trying to reach at least an intermediate level of understanding, as well as an advanced level when it comes to the AI aspects that are connected to my profession, which are mainly not technical, but probably regulation and law heavy.. which should be fine.. and they come intuitively to me sometimes.

Back to school..

The nerd inside of me is sort of excited, although I would admit, I am starting to feel "old age" LOL in the sense of being less of an enthusiast (but then I am crazy enthusiast, so less in my books may actually be above average lol)..

Yet, it may not be all age, like I think.. It may be the environment..

This is the first time I commit to studying since I am on my own, and I will say, perhaps a lot of my past drive was fueled by the stressful environment surrounding me, and the lack of options and freedom..

Glad I used it to do something useful like earning qualifications and learning etc. because keeping my brain busy and my eye focused on a goal gave me motivation, and made me feel like it was not a dead end life.. That while I felt my life was being wasted, that progress made me feel that I was still making the best out of a bad situation.. I am truly grateful that I did this, because it helped me later..

Now though.. I have all the freedom, options, and I need to find that self discipline purely because I am not just trying to keep myself busy, but because I just need to do something.. Hopefully it won't be as difficult and I also thinking creating these goals even in my current environment would keep me happy and that I am blessed to be someone who just LOVES learning, so that on its own means I am usually not that miserable when I sit-down to study, but I guess just need the willpower and discipline to "initiate" the task.. but once I am into it, I am into it.

You have embraced the concept of Life Long Learning. Good for you

You should go back to school and learn the difference between PROSE and PROS.

@RedBaron oh my goodness what an unforgivable mistake!

@TheLadyPotato More like mindless and avoidable, just as easy to get right as wrong if you put your mind to it for about 40 seconds.

@RedBaron this is exactly what makes it unforgivable.. because it was so easy to get it right if only i thought about it for 40 seconds, you know.

We can be school buddies! My career feels kinda pointless however as AI is making it impossible to be a writer.
But you never told us what you're going to study ..
