Garden spider. I like to watch those, haven’t had one around here for several years though.

@cherokeepatti They only live to breed and die off . The males die after breeding, and the females usually by the first frost (after they have made their egg sacks) . The babies are cool because they "parachute" around with a tiny web they spun to disseminate after hatching in the spring.

@TexChik the only spider I’ve seen with a web around the house was a huge black widow spider. It was on the ceiling of the porch where it could have fallen on our heads when we came out the front door. I took a cedar branch and torched it. I don’t tolerate that kind of spider.

@cherokeepatti Me either. Brown recluses get the same treatment. We spray for those. We don't spray the garden. The ducks come in every year and like to nest in the much around the rose bushes. The garden spiders take care of the bugs.
Doesn't look like a potato beetle.

I hate bugs
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Shybutwilling2bfriends I bought a bug zapper and it’s sitting outside near my front door. Tired of them all. Except the praying mantis that hangs out on the wall nearby to scoop up some of the bugs and the little gecko lizard who is doing the same at night.
