I am a loner potato 🥔

The part I dislike the most about my job is the interaction with people part… I wish I could perform my job on my own with minimal interaction with clients and I wonder if there is even any job at all where that is possible.

I know I always feel good when I have gathered all the information needed and that now I can spend time alone behind the screen performing assessments with myself and just interacting with my laptop .. I like this part of the job, when I have all the information and I am working on my own.. It is not like I want a job where I don’t talk to anyone, that’s not possible, but it would have been nice if my obtaining of information did not involve a lot of headaches and interactions..It would have been nice if i could obtain info from sources like the internet or whatever and then perform analysis or assessment or whatever on my own.. Since i am detailed and enjoy this type of work, i just don’t enjoy the asking questions part which most often feel like interrogation since people are always understandably defensive by nature in such discussions, making it difficult to get info with ease.

Maybe i should think about that when i look for my next job..

You and me both. I have an assistant at my job now, whose company I don’t mind, but I do still kinda miss having my own office to myself. Even so, I still have to make interactions with other employees regularly when I’m making deliveries. I’m so shy and socially anxious, sometimes I wonder how I’m even able to do this job, lol.

@Ducky omg the same. I also have an assistant (not personal assistant as such, but an assistant performing projects with me) and i sooooo prefer better to do it on my own like before, although i know most people would kill for a chance to just throw work at someone else, but i have a problem with delegation and I just prefer to sit with myself and finish what needs to get done! I don’t mind this interaction with her though, i mind interactions with clients to get info and then fighting with them over the conclusions .. i dislike this part, i wish my job was just behind the scenes..

Nevertheless, i still do these parts just fine.. just because we have some trouble with them or dislike them, doesn’t mean we fail at them. I’d say that i even do it better than my other colleague who is actually a very outgoing and social person. He is always getting into fights with clients and saying dumb things that shouldn’t be said to a client, that’s not proper communication 🤷‍♀️ So even if we are socially awkward, we could still do well in these areas.. maybe we would do a better job because we’d be over cautious knowing that it is a weakness for us..

Business communication is different.. and i don’t have any problems with it, as a matter of fact, I manage to maintain good relations even when it is complicated.. i just don’t like doing it 🥔🤷‍♀️@Lostpoet
