metabolism can be speeded up regardless of age...a low fat plant based diet/lifestyle is the way.....start with a waterfast, supervised of course...then onto the plantbased diet.....western style eating clogs the blood, slows the system...then some exercise, gradually walking some each day....then slowly and gradually increasing....you will be amazed at the results...
