Is it wrong to think twice about dating somebody working a minimum wage job?

I don't think I could be with someone who works the counter at Pizza Hut or makes sandwiches and Subway. Now that's not saying they are not worthwhile people but in my life I have been pushed to always go for more and to climb and date higher. There was this time I was dating a guy who was a mechanic back in my early 20s and I can just remember my mother making comments about him. "So when is he going back to school?" She would point out other guys and say to me he is studying to be a lawyer or his parents own this you should play the field more. This was a nudge to date someone more "like us" so to speak.

We all have our own standards. We shouldn't feel bad about them.

@VolpeTredici The problem is everyone around you points the finger of shame in your direction. Shame on you for being "shallow" and wanting to go for someone with more success and means to provide. You cannot win. One minute it's acceptable to date someone higher up on the food chain and the next you are called a gold digger. Then it's fine to date someone selling shoes at Foot Locker and the next minute everyone is saying you can do better.

@Addictedtoglamour So the problem is the people. Cut them out. Poisonous people only hold you back anyway. Pick who to care about, and fuck the rest.
