Omg the spaghetti sauce I made is amazing 👏🏻

I never use jar sauce, I always make my own because I hate how the jar ones have added sugar. I also never measure ingredients, I just go by taste. I didn't have time to make sauce from fresh tomatoes so I used canned.

- a spoonful of olive oil
- a pat of butter
- about a cup of chopped onion
- about half a cup of diced sweet peppers
- about a cup of chopped mushrooms
- a clove of minced garlic

Saute all of that in a pot til onions and peppers are tender and mushrooms have shrunk a little.

- 1 can of petite diced tomatoes (juice and all)
- 1 can tomato sauce
- dried or fresh oregano
- dried or fresh parsley
- fresh basil
- salt
- pepper
- smoked paprika
- red pepper flakes
- bay leaf
- Kalamata olives (halved or chopped)
- grated Parmesan cheese

Add all those to the pot, mix well, and simmer for at least 30 mins. Serve over pasta with meatballs. 🤌🏻✨
Sounds awesome. First time I made homemade it was awesome. Subsequently, not so much, and then I went back to the jar. Maybe I'll give this one a spin. Considering what I do make from scratch, not sure why I gave up on this one.

Italians never measure anything! Once my mother tried to write down [i]her[/i] mother's recipes. When she tried to pin down the amounts, the only answers she could get were, "Just a little" or "not too much!" 😄

Sounds lovely. We like a bit of heat so i finely chop a chillie. My boyfriend added chorizo once and it was nice too.
