Which is your favorite store bought jarred or canned spaghetti/pasta sauce?

Yes, I KNOW everyone on social media is a world class gourmet cook and makes their own sauce. So do I. But I had some of my favorite jarred sauce last night and I wondered which was your favorites? Maybe I'll try it.

I like the ones they sell at Aldis in the glass jars, Priano brand. I use it for pasta and also for pizza sauce if I don’t make my own.

@cherokeepatti I have been tempted to try that.

@RogueLoner they have different varieties but this is my favorite one.

@cherokeepatti my favorite

Roa. Pretty good. Can make a quick base too if time is an issue.

@cuppatea it is more. But if you calculate the actual meal cost, not so awful.
I enjoy the tomato basil, myself.

@Carla That's yummy. As a simple dish I like the Vodka Sauce, with tortellini and fresh grated parmesan ... and garlic bread.

ugh, now I am hungry LOL

@cuppatea yeah....ive not had breakfast yet.
Im more of a cappellini(sp?) with the tomato basil, fresh basil and pecorino🙂.
More often than not though, i have homemade sauce in the freezer.
But always a jar in the cupboard too...

Unbelievably, it's one of the cheapest jarred sauces. Francesco Rinaldi. I was working at Bed Bath and Beyond Corporate, when one of my co-workers brought in a snack for our training group made with that sauce. It was so good I thought it was home made.

I had never seen it at the grocery store, and he told me it was only .89 a jar at Shaws grocers. I am sure it is probably $3.00 a jar by now.

@4meAndyou I've seen it in stores here. Mainly in the small mom & pop deli/grocery stores. It's pretty good. 🙂

@RogueLoner It is! I am glad you can find it! He used regular Marinara, and I have purchased the garden sauce with onions, mushrooms, peppers and chunks of tomatoes which I really like.
almost always make my own but in a pinch Botticelli or Rao's are both acceptable
cuppatea · 31-35, F
It depends on what I am making. If it's lasagna I use Prego because it's inter mingled with other tasty ingredients but if I am using fewer ingredients ( like clams and sausage marinara ) I use Rao's.
RogueLoner · M
@cuppatea Different sauce for different pasta. I do that too.
TexChik · F
Last time I was Prego, I would have yacked just from looking at that label. Ugh !

I think the Bertolli sauces have good flavoring. Was my go-to. But now I’m all about this one.

RogueLoner · M
@PerfectionOfTheHeart That's 4 so far for Rao's. Now I'll have to try it. 🙂

I like Classico
RogueLoner · M
@Lilymoon I like Classico too. A little thin, but it tastes good.
Lilymoon · F
@RogueLoner red pepper is my fave flavour

I remember a time I bought the Prego brand quite often. Now, if I were to buy any, I look to see if it's organic and what all is in it. I like a thicker sauce with either beef or pork in it...and lots of mushrooms and veggies! lol

I seriously don't buy any more because I always have diced tomatoes and tomato sauce on hand for a variety of recipes.
(wasn't sure I should answer after being seen as a "world class gourmet cook)! lol
