I made pancakes - apples pureed and used instead of an egg for the batter and of course, Maple syrup. Delicious! I don't often make pancakes, and when I do, I make half a recipe and then make just two large pancakes. One for immediate consumption and one I put in the fridge for tomorrow's breakfast.

They are about the easiest thing to make and a perfect way to start a weekend, so mom was spot-on there.
I remember my mom would a few times a year, make them for breakfast, and dad, if he was home, would dust his with powdered sugar. We kids would put Log Cabin syrup on ours. I don't think I had real maple syrup until I was in my 30s.
Ice cream... hmmm, and now I'm wondering if you aren't a bit daft! 馃ぃ
