I just dropped a carton of eggs.

Only two survived. So much for that 3 egg omelette.

Two is still better than none. I keep thinking about the cost though! Eggs are getting to be like gold! (slight exaggeration)

@SW-User $24.32 for a 5-dozen case at Walmart now. They were around $10 during the summer and fall. I have bought them for as low as $6-7 but no more.
SW-User
@cherokeepatti Here, about $17 for 5 dozen.

@SW-User last eggs I bought were $9.50 at Winco for 5 dozen medium. They went up to $12 last time I checked but I still had some so I didn’t get any. Thinking anyone who can should freeze them before they go up more. Good to cook with if you can keep each egg separate.

@cherokeepatti I am not going to play the game of "how much will you pay?"
I can do without many food items the prices are getting too high on. I'm done buying eggs until I see an improvement or need just a few.
The more people willing to pay high prices, the more prices go up.

@cherokeepatti my neighbor has chickens and gives me some eggs weekly.

@SW-User I use them for baking and if I go very long without eating eggs my hair starts shedding badly.

@SW-User Fortunate for that. Home grown eggs are the best.

@cherokeepatti I understand.
My nephew gives eggs once in a while. Otherwise, I don't use eggs like I use to.... baking will slow down and be more of a real treat than just a daily thing.
I wish you luck with those prices.

@SW-User I could use one tablespoon of flaxmeal mixed with 2 tablespoons of water for each egg in baking things like muffins, waffles, pancakes and other such things. It works very good. I have put flaxmeal in gluten-free noodles too.
SW-User
@cherokeepatti I haven't tried that. It's interesting!

@SW-User I buy golden flax meal (Bob’s Red Mills) because it is good to help keep the liver clean and helps with digestion. It has a milder flavor than the brown flax meal. They sell the brown type at Walmart in the baking section. It would be good to keep on hand in case you ran out of eggs and it can be kept in the freezer or ice box in a jar.

@cherokeepatti We get a carton of 15 eggs for £1.60 (just up from £1.50) in one of the major UK supermarkets. For comparison, a regular cappuccino at Macdonald's is £1.69. ☺️

@Fluffybull I think they are doing things here to jack up prices and calling it shortages or supply line issues. It’s getting old.
