A barista that worked in my local bagel shop once imparted this little nugget.
1. Decrease your reservoir water by 1 cup.
2. Load your machine with ground coffee and sprinkle just a bit of sugar to the top.
3. Pour 1 cup of boiling hot water over your grounds and wait 5 minutes to "bloom" your coffee.
4. Start drip as normal.
This is how he did my pour over coffee each morning when i worked there
Add a touch of sugar, pour a bit of water, wait, slowly pour the rest.
It always was very smooth with a creamy top layer.
He says it works just as well in a regular old Mr. Coffee when i complained i was moving away and would miss my special coffee fairy

You're supposed to SMOKE pot and DRINK coffee. Don't mix the two, silly

It's all in the amount of coffee you put in.
