Caffeine limits your cardiac output (CO) by affecting the stroke volume of your heart ...the amount of blood your heart can pump out in a single heart beat... by making the heart muscle more rigid and less stretchable. CO= SV ( stroke volume ) X HR (heart rate). So your heart rate will go up to compensate for the deminished stroke volume. Sorry for the physiology lesson ... is getting in shape that important ?
