McDonald's made over $8 billion in profit last year. Their average worker makes about $12 an hour.

That's around $25,000 a year if you're lucky enough to get full-time hours.
Meanwhile, their CEO made $17 million. That's 680 times what the person actually flipping the burgers earns. They've got money for stock buybacks. Money for executive bonuses. Money for shareholders.
Just never enough money to pay the people doing the work. Where does all the profit go if not to the workers who made it?

The staff at every franchise agreed to the wage they earn. Most McDonald's are independently owned franchises so the corporate CEO's bonus structure has very little to do with the individual locations. And the corporate CEO deserves a huge bonus if he is indeed forcing every employee to work ther, his arms must be exhausted pointing a gun at that many people 24/7

@marybmom they didn’t know how much money they were gonna make their boss
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 the corporate CEO is not an employee at a franchise store's boss
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@marybmom what does that have to do with anything?
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@marybmom and the threat of homelessness is the same as pointing a gun to their heads

@Ferise1 wow the CEO of McDonald's has the power to evict too? He really didn't get a big enough bonus.
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 and I'm telling you corporate CEO has nothing to do with the wages at an independent store. It sounds like he made about 10k per restaurant, way less than any employee he just made 10k off a boat load of restaurants.

@marybmom one ok?
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 fixed it
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@marybmom so what the ones doing the work are the ones who deserve the money
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 so take $10,000 divided by the amount of money you're ok with him making and close every other McDonald's.

@marybmom it’s the guy making over 8 billion that needs to re-distribute the wealth
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 why shouldn't the guy making 80k have to with everyone making 20k
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 and at that point the person making the bad burgers that gets 500 people sick needs to loose their salary because of the law suits
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 or is wage the only thing it's fair to redistribute? What about cost and risk.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@marybmom risk doesn’t mean they can just take everything
marybmom · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 they aren't taking everything. They are paying each employee, paying taxes, paying for commercials, paying at least 3 types of insurance , you know all the things that have to be there to offer 30 to 50 $12/hour jobs at every location around the world.
