On the road today driving from my office in the metro Washington DC area down to NAS Oceana in Virginia.
I stopped for lunch just off the highway and stopped for the first time in ages at a McDonald's. Back in high school and, admittedly, even through much of university I ate often at McDonald's. Way too often. But it was easy and cheap and quick... and back then that's all I looked for on a meal.
I've since gotten a bit more picky in my choices and even in the last few months been trying to actually make healthy choices. But as I said, this was a quick on the road stop.
I ordered the Quarter Pounder with bacon and cheese, a medium fries, and my Coke Zero. I'm not a big beef eater but I do like an occasional good burger. This was not that. This was a very dried out chewy slab of mystery meat. 🤦♀️ The fries, by weight, likely contained more salt and grease than potatoes. And my beloved Coke Zero was way more water and way less syrup that it was supposed to be.
I dumped it all after a few bites and sips. I'll arrive in Dam Neck hungry and got me a good Navy meal!!! 🙄😤

I've never been a fan of McDonald's. It's inexpensive, yes, but you really do get what you pay for when it comes to their food. I'd rather go elsewhere and shell out a little more money if I must eat fast-food burgers.
The fact that Russians went ga-ga over McDonald's speaks volumes about what their regular food must taste like. 🤢
@Rutterman I agree with you completely and I made a conscious choice several years ago to leave McD's in the rearview. What I was thinking tonight is beyond me.
In consolation, I had an awesome formal dinner this evening. Full Dress Whites and a sit down dinner. I had the salmon. ;)
@sarabee1995 You just wanted a quick, easy meal and found a McDonald's on the way to your destination. It's understandable why you would have gotten something to eat there.
Ah, salmon sounds good. It's been a while since I've had any. 😎
