Omg that was awful...

On the road today driving from my office in the metro Washington DC area down to NAS Oceana in Virginia.

I stopped for lunch just off the highway and stopped for the first time in ages at a McDonald's. Back in high school and, admittedly, even through much of university I ate often at McDonald's. Way too often. But it was easy and cheap and quick... and back then that's all I looked for on a meal.

I've since gotten a bit more picky in my choices and even in the last few months been trying to actually make healthy choices. But as I said, this was a quick on the road stop.

I ordered the Quarter Pounder with bacon and cheese, a medium fries, and my Coke Zero. I'm not a big beef eater but I do like an occasional good burger. This was not that. This was a very dried out chewy slab of mystery meat. 🤦‍♀️ The fries, by weight, likely contained more salt and grease than potatoes. And my beloved Coke Zero was way more water and way less syrup that it was supposed to be.

I dumped it all after a few bites and sips. I'll arrive in Dam Neck hungry and got me a good Navy meal!!! 🙄😤

And it's also expensive nowadays. Twin track heartburn.

@ineedadrink You're the second person here calling McDonald's expensive???? Compared to what???

@sarabee1995 To what it used to be, I guess. I mean a McD meal used to cost less than a comparable meal at a mom & pop place but now it's the same.

@ineedadrink EVERYTHING is expensive compared to what it used to be. That's called inflation. You can't print and distribute billions of dollars in "stimulus" payments without inducing a corresponding decrease in the value of that printed money. Eco 101.

But, McD's compared to a mom & pop restaurant?? My meal today was like eight or nine dollars. Something like that. No way can I walk into a sit down local restaurant and order a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a drink and be out for under $10. It's gonna be $15-18 anywhere I've been. And that's fine. My expectations would be higher.
