That depends. Where I grew up in Ohio it was about two thirds of a minute per kilometer driving. Where I am in central florida it's more like two minutes per kilometer. In some bigger cities during rush hour it can be as bad as twenty minutes per kilometer.


In Ohio we did a lot of distance measuring by time to get there. Because it wasn't the distance that was actually important but the time you wanted to arrive there. You don't call someone to say you are ten miles away, you call to say you are ten minutes away.

@SW-User as I said, growing up we did a lot of distance estimates in time to get there. A kilometer is
0.6 miles, which isn't too difficult to convert.
