Rite-Aid still carries the "Thrifty Brand" ice cream. The chocolate chip is exactly the same award winning recipe it was over 50 years ago. I go out of my way each time I can when they have the 2 for 1 half gallon sale. It's better than many of the pricier brands.
Ice Cream trivia. Barbra Streisand still has a lifetime credit for free ice-cream from when she was dating Richard Baskin (half owner of 31 flavors) of course she doesn't take advantage of the freebee since it would be considered tacky.
Ice cream trivia. The owner of the exclusive french restaurant "Laundy Restaurant" made a sundae for chef Anthony Bourdain which included bits of Marlboro brand tobacco. Chef Bourdain actually loved it and thanked chef Laundry. (this can be seen on YouTube)
